Call | The Gifted Show (2022)
Updated: Apr 21
As promised, The Gifted Show is back!
Circle Craft and the Vancouver Metal Arts Association are delighted to partner once again for the third edition of The Gifted Show this 2022 holiday season. This juried show and sale will be hosted at Circle Craft Gallery in the heart of Granville Island.
The show aims to both celebrate the diversity of contemporary jewellery and metal art objects and to promote sales during the bustling shopping season. Items will be promoted for sale through social media for the length of the exhibition, which will be held at the peak of the holiday shopping season from November 23 through December 24.
How to apply:
To participate in this event, please 1) complete this application form and 2) submit images separately in an email to exhibitions@vancouvermetalarts.com.
You may submit one image per work, for up to six works. Up to three will be on sale at any given time. If you submit more than three, they will replaced in displays with the artist's second-choice stock if or as stock runs out.
Images must be labelled as "Lastname_Firstname_Title"
The email subject must be titled [IMAGE SUBMISSION FOR GIFTED 2022]
If you are a VMAA member who resides outside Vancouver and would require additional time to ship a piece, please make a note/addendum for your artist submission. We acknowledge the brief application window and will arrange the jurying of items as they are submitted, and will notify successful applicants within three days.
This application is open exclusively to members of either VMAA or Circle Craft and there is no additional fee to apply. For VMAA, this is one of the many opportunities for our members to show their work and engage the public.
Tips for a successful submission
Please note that Circle Craft, whose Granville Island location is where these will be sold, is looking for work that is newer or not regularly sold through the shop.
This is still a juried exhibition opportunity: pieces that are not produced in high volume, but are considered exciting and original expressions of the artist, will have an edge in submissions.
When in doubt -- submit anyway! We'd love to see and celebrate your pieces. We've done our best to streamline the application process for you.
Additional tips for submissions that sell well
Pieces that draw visual interest (perceptible size, eyecatching shape and colour) in display cases could have an edge in sales.
Owing to the season, submitting pieces with an array of price and material ranges suitable for gifts could have an edge in sales volumes.
What to expect: additional conditions of sale and shipment
If you submit more than three pieces, when packing them, do so in such a way that your preference for your top three (the first to be displayed/sold) is obvious.
If your pieces are accepted, we will need to receive them by mail by the evening of November 22, or in person at Circle Craft Gallery by November 23. Exhibitors requiring other accommodations may reach out to exhibitions@vancouvermetalarts.com
Sales for Circle Craft members are split 55:45% (in favour of Circle Craft Members) and VMAA members receive 50:50%.
Sales at Circle Craft are tallied at the end of each month and paid out by interac e-transfer by the 15th of each month.
