Isis Costa

Vice President

Isis Costa is a Brazilian contemporary jewellery artist and metalsmith born in Maceió, Brazil, and currently based in Vancouver, BC.

With a background in Law and a postgraduate degree in Digital Law and Compliance, Isis began exploring metalsmithing in São Paulo, where she discovered a passion for working with metal. She later moved to Canada and graduated from the Jewellery Art & Design program at Vancouver Community College.

Her artistic practice combines traditional metalsmithing techniques with contemporary artistic expression, exploring movement, contrast, and the relationship between what is visible and concealed. She enjoys experimenting with sculptural forms, mechanisms, and hidden details that invite curiosity and interaction.

Her artistic and technical achievements have been recognized through several awards, including the Lacy West Artistic Achievement Award and the Emerging Artists in Contemporary Craft Award. Her work has also been featured in exhibitions such as Within Cells Interlinked and at the Craft Council of BC, reflecting her growing presence in the contemporary jewellery and metal arts community.

Isis values the exchange of ideas and experiences within the artistic community and looks forward to contributing to Vancouver's metal arts scene through her involvement with VMAA.
