CALL FOR ENTRY: UNEARTHED (VMAA 2022 Group Exhibition)

Updated: Apr 21

Call for Entry:

The Vancouver Metal Arts Association would like to invite jewellers and metal artists to submit finished works to be considered for our 2022 exhibition ‘Unearthed’. The exhibition will take place at the Craft Council of BC gallery space from March 3 to April 29, 2022.

This exhibition invites artists to uncover the discoveries they have made with their work through trials and tribulations. Perhaps the past few years have been conducive to reviewing and reworking past work or have allowed for reflection, resulting in a restart with renewed energy leading into a new direction, unearthing a hidden treasure. Some artists have found themselves delving into project after project, while others find themselves wandering in unknown territory. We ask artists to mine through changes to their studio practices, to dig back into past ideas lost along the way, to excavate the old into something new and to reveal the discoveries they have made. ‘Unearthed’ offers an opportunity to reveal your inspirational ideas, various initial attempts, and finally, those processes employed in the creation of a new piece of art - jewellery or object.

Process work - sketches, maquettes, samples, etc. - will be a component of the final exhibition and we ask that artists be prepared to supply this if selected. VMAA strongly encourages applications from artists from diverse backgrounds.
