Call for entry | Evolving Spaces: Transitional in Nature (2024 Exhibition)
Updated: Apr 21
VMAA biennial Juried Exhibition 2023/24
It's time to celebrate a decade of the Vancouver Metal Arts Association. The Vancouver Metal Arts Association exhibitions committee invites invite you to participate in a juried group exhibition co-presented by the Vancouver Metal Arts Association in partnership with the Craft Council of British Columbia.
VMAA invites jewellers, metal artists, and students of these disciplines to submit works that fit the theme Evolving Spaces: Transitional in Nature.
About the call
When physical or emotional spaces change in such a way that they can no longer foster our growth or survival, we push forward under new conditions. Shrinking spaces, displacement, feeling cramped or pursuing freedom, changes of perspective, self-discovery, and the search for safety are some of the many things that can propel us to a new normal.
But what do we find in those liminal spaces? In between what is lost and what will be gained we may discover what is.
VMAA asks artists to create work that explores what becomes present in these evolving spaces.
Consider the following:
Spatial limitations related to living/exhibiting/working
Changes of heart
Cultural loss and gain
Metamorphosis
Transitions
Silver linings
